This album contains photos of several trips including trips to Bowling Green in the States in 2003, 4 and 5. Hockenheim in 2004 and 2005. And many more trips as well. If you have any good photos of any car or bike event and would like them on the net then contact me. I may host them on this site.
I didn't make the SCCI Hockenheim meet last year as my engine was with Marc Haibeck in the states. Viper Paul aka 'Viper no mates' was left to go on his own. This year attendance from us Brits was also poor. The timing of the event ment it clashed with the CCCUK nationals and a number of other UK events. Being the week after Le Man also put some off as well. We stayed over the water after Le Mans, taking a trip into Switzerland for a few days (very enjoyable-we will be back), meeting Viper Paul at Interlaken on Thursday night for the drive to Hockenheim on the Friday. Hockenheim was it usual mix of great cars and good racing and it was also good to meet the crowd from Finland again a week on from Le Mans. After Le mans we travelled down to Switzerland. First stop Nyon then off to Morel the following day. Next stop was Arosa, the end part of this journey took us up a 13km stretch of road that climbs 15% and has 350 bends (mostly hairpin). The following morning we set off for Interlaken to meet up with our friends and their Viper. The following morning was our last in Stwitzerland as we set off on our way to Germany for the Vette and Viper meet at Hockenheim. A wet LeMans this year! Unable to park up at Arnage on Friday this year. Way too much pace car action throughout the race and to top it all No. 64 vette broke. The 63 car was gaining on the Aston at a rate up to 30 secs a lap in the wet in the last 2 hours but the pace cars put a stop to that. Something a bit different!!!! Sorry, didn't take many pics, too busy talking, or was it eating Another class win for the Vettes!!
This is one modded and road raced ZR1 that can't be missed. Check it out here. For more check out www.cardomain.com/id/zr1mk
I didn't go so can't write too much here. I think a good time was had by all. The annual BBQ at the Fairmile and the best yet. A great turn out by all the clubs this year. If you left early then you missed the highlight - the burnouts!!! A big thank-you to the mananger and all the staff at the Fairmile for a great evening. Wings, Wheels and Steam show held in the Groombridge place grounds. Corvettes from Kent region turned up. 2 of each C5, 4 and 3. With a C2 putting in a brief appearance in the afternoon. A good day out with only a few Corvettes in attendance but with a good turn out of other cars making a great day out for any piston head
The Swiss Corvette Club meet at Hockenheim again with the support of the Vipers. A few of us went last year and we all had a great time. No surprise then that we all returned this year for an even better time. Better weather, more cars and a 2 day event. And with the old Le Mans ZR1 racing as well!!! We also took in the old Reims GP circuit on the way out as well. Unbelievable how it is left alone by vandals - wouldn't have a chance in England. Le Mans again. This time with the new C6R and what a result another 1,2 in their class. Some new faces came this and some previous regulars couldn't make it and were missed track side.
Our 2nd time to the ZR1 Gathering and our 3rd time to Bowling Green. This time 5 of us made the trip from the UK and we all had a great time. It's always good to fit the faces to the names on the forums and look over the cars.
On the the weekend of the 11th and 12th of September a group of Corvettes crossed the channel and made the journey to Bruges. The weather turned out to be really good, as did the whole weekend. With the gathering just around the corner I thought it was time for a get-together. Good day for me as I got to drive 2 Zr1's and a 90 Callaway TT. 3rd October 2003 (my Birthday!!!) A very wet and windy day but some good weather The Fairmile annual BBQ. Lots of car clubs and good food. Great day out this. Parking right where we needed to be and a really good airshow. Took a trip to Norfolk with Malc for this car show. Great time was had by all and another ZR1 is now in the country!!!
On the Friday the 9th July 10 cars set off for Hockenheim. The trip out turned into a nightmare with the severe weather causing accident after accident followed by traffic jam after traffic jam. The 10 cars getting split on the way down and lunch not going as planned all added to the disappointment but come Saturday all was worth while. Loads of Vettes and Vipers racing around made for a really enjoyable day. On the Sunday some of us took a trip to the Sinsheim Auto & Technik museum while others headed back to the UK. Three Vettes and a Viper returned on Monday, having all the fun we missed out on travelling out. Vette club annual meet at Knebworth A 1, 2 finish, good weather and well organised and an invite to the victory party after the race. What a great weekend and a fitting end for the C5R at Le Mans Our first gathering. We took a 2 week trip to the States and toured the mountains and then down to Bowling Green for the gathering Le Mans 2003 was our first experience of this event and we enjoyed every minute of it. From the parade to the actual race the atmosphere made it like no other. The 50th celebrations held at the end of June 2003 at the Coliseum in Nashville and at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green The hottest day of the year! only 3 pics of this one Surrey cruise to Duxford 2003. Surrey Street Rodders Wheels day 2003 We meet here on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Good food and always a good turn out On the 20th of September 2003 6 Corvettes set off for a weekend in France. The weather was great and the roads were empty. What else could you want ? Surrey cruise to Beaulieu back in September 2002
